I am extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you customize it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing, it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one these days..

@Jenine Lease - Most recently, especially on lower end systems that might not have the resources to run a full-blown multi-layered approach to security has been to recommend Avast 5.0 the link to which is on the upper right hand side of every page on this site. Avast 5.0 also has a free version at http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download to those who don't want to pay for their security software. It is really a great product offering more features than many paid applications. If you really prefer a suite, then Comodo Internet Security is a nice free suite of tools and includes a top notch two-way firewall

As mentioned in the article, my own strategy is Avast alongside Comodo Firewall. I haven't had an infection on my own machines for several years now and like I said, I tend to engage in risky internet surfing. It's kept me safe so far.

In the past AVG was my recommended product but the past few versions are heavy on resources slowing down the machine. My partner with whom I share our retail location who runs a separate business has the paid version of AVG on his machines. It often crashes so he recently decided to try out McAfee since it came with a new Dell he recently purchased.

In independent test reports AVG does not seem to do as well in either detection or cleaning as other free products.

Nevertheless, AVG can still claim to be one of the best known AV apps out there and has a large following. I still use it for preliminary offline scanning of computers using a bootable version so that I can scan a PC without booting Windows.

A short list of the free apps that I feel are worthy of consideration can be found in one my my other articles on this site at http://syspc.net/free-legitimate-anti-virus-software/

Ever since my laptop’s memory expired the security has been down and I get assailed looking and downloading free reckoned to be safe downloads. Which free online security do you think is the best? I’ll have to wait to put it on because java-script screwed me over and wholly burnt my laptop. Im planning on going with AVG since its free and its truly functional.

[...] There are numerous free bootable CD ISO’s on the net that will allow you to boot your PC using the CD player on your computer. The OS on the Cd may be Linux or Microsoft based. When booted this way, the operating system is loaded into RAM and runs from there. The operating system on your hard drive is not loaded at this time. However, you can access the files that are on your hard drive. Which allows us to take a back up of our important files if we haven’t been keeping backups. [...]
